How it came about

I wanted bookshelves for one wall of my living room. But every one I found was either too expensive, or the quality was too low. So being an avid do-it-yourselfer, and an Engineer, I designed my own bookcases that I could build with the tools I had on hand.

After I built my bookcases I realized I had discovered a woodworking method that would allow me to make other types of furniture with the same easy technique, and the same good looking high quality.

Since the bookcases (I made three, with one having an enclosed cabinet with doors in the lower half), I have made a lateral file cabinet, a drop leaf desk, a bathroom vanity cabinet, a stereo cabinet, and a platform storage bed.

I decided these techniques would be useful to others, so I wrote a fifty page manual (8 1/2 by 11 inches) and got it published. (A download version is also available).

Using this manual, you will be able to make furniture the exact size you need, with the type of wood and finish you like.

You will also be able to use the techniques to design and make many other items not covered in the manual.

It will feel good to say, "I made this furniture."
